Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

1 teaspoon pureed garlic

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon allspice

1/4 teaspoon freshy ground pepper

1/8 teaspoon cayenne

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon dried oregano -- crumbled

1 pound tempeh

Combine garlic, salt, allspice, pepper, cayenne, nutmeg, and oregano in a small

bowl and set aside.

Place the tempeh in a saucepan of boiling water. Reduce the heat to low and

simmer for 10 minutes. Drain the tempeh, pat it dry, and cut into 1-inch

cubes.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tempeh and cook,

turning frequently, until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle the

spice mixture over the tempeh cubes in the skillet and toss until fragrant and

evenly distributed, about 20 seconds. Serve hot.
