Haven't tried it but might someday when I'm creative Jenn Ottawa, Ontario, Canada http://tlotc.dhs.org/jenn/ * Exported from MasterCook * ADAS CAREH (LENTIL BUTTER) Recipe By : " Vegetarian Times " March, 1992 Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : 7 Point Done By Dotties Calculator Ethiopian Low-Fat Sauces And Spreads Vegetarian Vegetarian Times Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup lentils -- uncooked 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 1/4 cups water 1 tablespoon olive oil 6 sliced green onions 1 clove minced garlic 1 1/2 tablespoons parsley 1 teaspoon cayenne 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1/4 cup water -- as needed Combine water, lentils, salt in a pot. Cook till lentils are soft. Drain, reserve stock. Heat oil in skillet & saute onions & garlic till onions are translucent. Add parsley & spices & cook another minute. Set aside. Combine lentils, cooking water & onion mixture in a food processor, adding more water a tb at a time as needed till the mixture reaches a spreadable consistency. Refrigerate a few hours before serving. Spread on whole grain crackers or use as a vegetable dip. " Vegetarian Times " March, 1992 JENN'S NOTE: I used the nutritional info for 2 cups cooked lentils rather then 1 cup uncooked because the fibre and the calories were way out of wack and considering we are going to cook the lentils anyways.
