Guest guest Posted June 29, 2000 Report Share Posted June 29, 2000 It's simply Tomato Sauce, but I added (AV) because I already had a tomato sauce in this cookbook. * Exported from MasterCook * Tomato Sauce (AV) Recipe By :The Accidental Vegan - Devra Gartenstein Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 chopped onion 3 cloves garlic -- minced 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tablespoons dried basil or 12-15 fresh leaves, chopped 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes 1 6 oz can tomato paste 1 cup water Saute the onion and garlic in olive oil. Add seasonings. Cook until onions are translucent, then add the crushed tomatoes. Simmer for an hour and a half, stirring regularly. Add the tomato paste and a cup of water, and simmer for another 1/2 hour.
