Guest guest
This is really tasty - I'd think true vegans could use maple syrup or brown rice syrup. * Exported from MasterCook * Honey-Miso Sauce Recipe By :Fields of Greens - Annie Somerville Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 cup mild red or yellow miso or a combination 1 tablespoon dark sesame oil 1/3 cup water 1 1/2 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger 1/2 teaspoon rice wine vinegar 1 or 2 jalapeno or serrano chilies -- seeded and pureed with a little water cayenne pepper (optional) soy sauce (optional) The flavor of this wonderfully simple sauce will vary depending on the type of miso you use. Choose your favorite --a hearty red or a smooth, light yellow miso--you can even try a combination. Rich sesame oil and honey add depth and sweetness, while freshly grated ginger and jalapeno chilies give the sauce a refreshing bite. Serve with slices of grilled tofu and a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds. Whisk the miso, sesame oil. and water together until smooth. Mix in the honey, ginger, and vinegar; add the pureed chilies. For more heat, add up to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne. If you're using mild yellow miso, you may want to add a splash of soy sauce.
