Guest guest Posted June 10, 2000 Report Share Posted June 10, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Skillet Seared Tofu Recipe By :This Can't Be Tofu!, Deborah Madison Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 carton tofu, firm -- drained 2 tablespoons olive oil OR vegetable oil 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce -- (vegetarian available) OR steak sauce or tamari salt & freshly ground pepper Slice the tofu crosswise into 6 or 8 pieces, 1/2-inch thick or slightly less. Blot with paper towels. Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet. When hot, add the tofu and fry over medium-high heat until golden. Turn and cook the second side, about 10 minutes in all. Pour over the Worcestershire sauce and continue cooking until it evaporates, leaving the tofu nicely glazed and seasoned. Salt lightly and season with plenty of pepper.
