Guest guest Posted June 1, 2000 Report Share Posted June 1, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Vegetarian Rice And Beans Recipe By : Tabasco www.tabasco.com Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Tabasco Appetizers & Snacks Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups water 2 vegetable bouillon cubes or 2 teaspoons -- instant broth granules 2 cups raw brown rice 1 can red kidney beans -- rinsed and drained 1 large onion -- chopped 1 large green bell pepper -- chopped 1 jar Original or Spicy TABASCO® 7 Spice Chili -- (16 ounces) 1 teaspoon ground cumin Put water and bouillon cubes in 4-quart heavy-gauge saucepan with lid. Bring to a boil over high heat. Stir in rice. Return to a boil; add remaining ingredients. Return mixture to a boil; reduce heat to low if cooking over campfire, move to side. Cover and simmer 45 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
