Guest guest
Hi all! This is too good to pass up. First some background as to why I'm always jumping in on bogus virus warnings, hoaxes, urban legends, etc: It's my job. <LOL> At work I am responsible for refuting or validating virus alerts, hoaxes, chain letters, etc. People are brow-beaten into sending things to me first for checking before sending it out to the entire company. They get too much darned email as it is to get junk mail from in house. Woe to those who send out something unwarranted like that! So, I've been testing this little applet that integrates into your browser. When you browse the Internet, there are sites that track your travels and sell this information, including your email address, as a " profile. " The buyers inundate you with junk mail. (Be aware: Just because you don't visit porno sites doesn't preclude you from getting porno ads. If you buy clothing? Clothing = underwear = lingerie = sex = porno = ads for God knows what. Twisted, isn't it? .mp3 sites kick you into these sites by Warez, which force ads for naked Brittany Spears on you, and add you to their mailing lists immediately, when all you might be looking for are music .mp3 files!) Blocking cookies isn't the answer, because it merely prohibits you from getting into sites you might want to visit like Priceline.com, and others that sell things you might enjoy. This little thing I found is called Privacy Companion. It is on www.idcide.com. It installs as three little icons in the upper right hand corner of your browser. You can configure it to either just let you know when you're being tracked, (by a little blinking eye) or you can jam their tracking. I like the fact that when I am jamming someone, it puts a big red X through the blinking eye icon. It creates a log so you can gloat over those who can't get information about you! <G> Now, on high privacy you might not get into some sites you really want to visit, but you can click to medium privacy and go through. It's your call. Anyway, I'm not affiliated with this program or it's creators, but I am an enthusiastic supporter now. I have it installed on my 3 work computers and all 7 here in my dining room. I'm going to make all my relatives, whose computers I am forced to support, install it. So, if you're bummed about so much junk mail, check it out. I recommend it. Have wonderful evenings wherever you all might be -- and now, back to cooking! <LOL> To be legal, here's a great Joanna Lund Recipe! * Exported from MasterCook * Baked Potato Soup Recipe By : Joanna Lund Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Potatoes & Rice Soups & Stews Low Fat (Under 30%) Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 can Healthy Request® Cream of Mushroom Soup -- (10 3/4 ounce) 1 1/2 cups Carnation Evaporated Skim Milk -- (one 12-fluid-ounce can) 2 cups baked russet potatoes -- (12 ounces) unpeeled & diced 1/4 cup Hormel Bacon Bits -- or imitation bacon-flavored pieces 3/4 cup shredded Kraft reduced-fat Cheddar cheese -- (3 ounces) 1/4 cup chopped onion In a large saucepan sprayed with butter-flavored cooking spray, sauté onion for 5 minutes or until tender.
