Handy Tips *Storing spices: Store dried spices in airtight containers in cool, dry place, as direct light, heat and moisture speed up the loss of flavor. Generally, whole spices stay fresh up to 2 years, while ground spices stay fresh up to 6 months. Red spices such as red pepper and paprika will retain their flavor and color longer if refrigerated. *Tortillas: Both flour and corn tortillas are popular in today's cooking. Flour tortillas are made from wheat flour and are smoother than corn tortillas. They are rolled very thin and - at 8 to 10 inches in diameter - they are usually larger than corn tortillas. They have from 80 to 160 calories. Corn tortillas are made from a very finely ground and specially-prepared corn. They are usually about 6 inches in diameter and have a coarse texture. They have about 45 to 70 calories. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
