Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 cups cooked kidney beans -- drained

3 cloves garlic -- minced

1/2 cup minced green onion

1/2 cup old-fashioned uncooked oats

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 1/2 teaspoons cumin

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

3 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon canola oil

4 whole wheat buns

Barbecue Sauce with Beer (recipe follows)

1 cup radish sprouts or sprouts of your choice

Mash beans in a deep bowl. Mix in garlic, onion, oats, chili powder, cumin,

salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Let stand for 20 minutes so oats soften and

flavors blend. Shape into 4 patties.

Heat oil over medium heat in a nonstick frying pan that has been sprayed with

nonstick cooking spray. Cook patties, turning once, until crusty on both sides

and heated through.

Slather cut sides of buns generously with barbecue sauce. Place patties on

bottoms of buns. Top with sprouts. Replace top half of each bun. Serve in

buns, with or withoiut a side of coleslaw.
