Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 red or golden Delicious apples 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup 1/3 cup water 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8 teaspoon grated lemon peel 1/4 cup slivered almonds -- toasted 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Preheat oven to 350°F. Core apples and peel halfway down from the top. Place in a casserole dish. In a small bowl, combine honey or maple syrup, water, vanilla, and lemon peel. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with almonds and cinnamon. Bake 25 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm. Source: " Karen C.
