Guest guest Posted April 11, 2000 Report Share Posted April 11, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Sloppy Joes with Texturized Soy Protein Recipe By :Earl Mindell's Soy Miracle Cookbook Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 7/8 cup boiling water 1 cup dry texturized soy protein 1 cup chopped onion 1 large green bell pepper -- coarsely chopped 3 tablespoons soybean or canola oil 2 cups low-salt tomato sauce 2 tablespoons sugar salt and pepper 4 hamburger rolls -- split in half Pour boiling water over the texturuzed soy protein and set aside. In a large pan, saute the onion and green pepper in the oil until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Add the texturized soy protein and the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes. Serve over split hamburger rolls.
