hi, blake here.

does anyone know if it's possible to program a mail program to trash

messages from certain group members? i know i can set up my program

to trash, say, everything from " vegan chat " , which i obviously don't

want to do (i could just unsub), but i'm not sure if i can set it up

to trash, say, ron's messages.

which is my intention. ron, i've sat at the table with you here for a

few weeks, and the table just isn't big enough for me to move to the

other end so i don't have to hear you.

thanks,

blake

Hi Blake

I'm sorry about the upsets of the last few days. Ron is now on moderating,

so none of his messages get through unless the moderators, Peter, Fraggle

and I, feel that they should. Hopefully there will be no more annoyance.

I saw the message that Ron's on moderated status, but I believe you still can, even though it shows the emails are coming from the group. You should still be able to block an individual the same way. I know I've done that with Gmail, someone from a group was sending emails to individuals off line and a bunch of us blocked him. And I noticed that the conversations of the regular group emails would show a deleted message and it was that individuals posts.

I do this all the time on some lists!

If your e-mail program has a filtering function, where you can

have e-mails sent directly to different mailboxes, you can set it up

so that messages " from " whoever you specify are sent

directly to " trash " or " junk " or wherever (or you

can make up a mailbox name, and trash everything in it

regularly).

I use a free version of Eudora, which has a wonderful filtering

function. If you're on a lot of lists, it'd probably be worth

installing it just to be able to filter.
