Guest guest
<<Re: Re: A vegan cookbook with (positive) attitude when where you in the Bay Area, and where did you go? fraggle>> June of 2002. 1st plane trip in 25 years and the night landing had me uptight! I had NO idea we'd drop down over the bay! My previous flight had us over the Atlantic, in flames, we could see the white cliffs of Dover and England refused to let us land. We got to go back to Germany. I was in the Bay Area with my daughter, who'd just graduated high school and we found ourselves stranded at the airport. The trip got better as it went along though! LOL The main place that I remember eating out at was in San Jose, it was part of some sort of a cult. I know that sounds odd, but when you walked in there was a shrine to a woman. The food was vegan, and tasted pretty good. I adored the Alberts and Trader Joe's!! We did end up going in a 30 ft. sailboat on the bay. Wish I'd known how cold it would be...we were in shorts and summer tops, whereas the residents were wearing sturdy coats! LOL We found out that neither of us gets seasick...the Bay was very choppy that day! China town was amazing, we ate in a small vegan restaurant there, and then walked up and around to a store. The store sort of reminded me of a dimestore, but with nicer stuff. My daughter lived in the area last summer for one of her college co- ops. She worked at a lab in a hospital there, can't remember the name offhand. She was part of the group that was trying to find a cure for the addiction to meth. I tease her and tell her she got college credit for working in a meth lab. <grin> I was also in San Diego, with one night in LA (I think)? LOL We were only there 12 days. The weather was awesome, even the " cold " days. I loved looking at the Bay, and the ocean!! I noticed though that they didn't have what pass for clouds in the midwest! Toss in a day in Mexico and that covers most of the trip! I did learn that I definately want to do my homework before any more trips. I think I missed more than I realized at the time! Guest guest
there are a number of SE asian veggie restaurants in the bay area which follow the teachings of a certain buddhist woman...theis might be one of them maybe not all that familiar with places in the south bay... and, twmps can be all over the place here in the bay, but being just a few miles apart...today, its going to be 100 in eastern alameda and contra costa county..and barely 60 in half moon bay on the penninsula...just the way our micro climates work crazy about your last plane flight before that one being on fire! eeep! fraggle tofuchick24 Aug 30, 2007 5:11 PM Bay area... <<Re: Re: A vegan cookbook with (positive) attitude when where you in the Bay Area, and where did you go?fraggle>>June of 2002. 1st plane trip in 25 years and the night landing had me uptight!
