Guest guest
My Sunday has been interrupted by a newspaper story here in Maryland about bomb-sniffing dogs on the front lines in Iraq with their handlers. There are the obligatory statements about loyalty and friendship, all good. Then… An Army handler mentions that it’s the job of the dog to “take a bullet for me”. He also mentions that the dog “loves the sport of sniffing out bombs.” Following that, there are graphic descriptions of injuries some of these loyal dogs have received “saving their owners from certain death”. This is just wrong in so many ways. My hatred of the Iraqi War not withstanding, did anyone ask the dogs?? I am sure some of you will not agree with me, but that’s okay…if you wish, let me know what you think so I can work this out in my brain. Currently, I am beating my head against the bedroom wall in hopes that my eyes will explode so I do not have to read claptrap like this ever again. Guest guest
I do agree with you. The war is wrong in the first place, and to use animals is wrong as well. Guest guest
I believe that the navy uses trained dolphins and evn seal/sealions to find mines on the hulls of craft also.
