Guest guest
Ah, well, let the men be upset then. Yes, I have seen the men preening themselves as well. It’s all a waste of energy and money just to be “attractive.” True beauty comes from the inside and not the outer appearance. Mother Teresa was beautiful. Gandhi had that inner beauty. Hair gels, baggy shorts and cutsie goatees are just as clownish. I live near the Wild Animal Park in San Diego county. Often I will walk a 5 mile hike through that park and I can count the unpainted, undyed, unsexed up females on one hand. Logically, it’s a small sample but one that covers not only the US but foreign visitors as well. Young men are often as you say but middle-aged and above are rarely “pimped up.” Quite a few of the female keepers at the park choose not to wear makeup. Their commitment to caring for the animals shows through as inner beauty that no hairdo or makeup can equal. PETA is doing good work. If we must get the attention of “idiots” [your word] then we must attract them with their clowns. Lives are hanging in the balance and if sex can save lives so be it. As for me I am just one outspoken, rude, ugly committed son of a bi___! Let’s quit quibbling over minor details and get something done! I find it offensive, as the women in my life don't behave the way that you describe - there is, of course, a proportion of women that do, but then there are also a proportion of men who do body building, cover themselves in smells that they think women will like, and take a long time doing their hair, in order to attract women. So what - some people are idiots - does that mean we should abuse everyone who has something in common with those idiots? I happen to have the same genitalia as you, but I'd hate to think that I'd be classified as sexist and racist (since you also " can't talk to Americans " ) just because of that unfortunate fact. BB Peter - Don Scott Sunday, July 22, 2007 5:33 AM RE: PETA and Playboy Playmates Team up for National Hot Dog Day Sex and violence drive most advertising campaigns. My next statement will probably upset the female crowd but here goes. As long as women paint themselves up like clowns to attract the opposite sex I have no problem with this kind of advertizing. When the majority of women stop dying their hair (two two-tone striped skunk look is now popular) and dressing up as if they were trying to get someone to buy them dinner then I will condemn sexist ads. Until then, we must do whatever is needed to try and stop the slaughter. I support PETA and wish females would stop wasting money on boob jobs, makeup, perfume and the accoutrements of sexual attraction and SPEND THEIR MONEY ON SAVING LIVES! Most females I know just don’t realize that men would be attracted to them if they wore khaki’s and combat boots. We don’t need to be sold. Ask any guy leaving a bar at 2PM and he will tell you the same. Now if they were vegan as well as models then that would be different, as they would be able to show that there are vegan models out there, but I doubt that they were........ all I ever find in my salads is insects............. Guest guest
Hi Don My issue with PETA's method of advertising is this: they are campaigning for equal respect for all living creatures, something which I whole-heartedly agree with. However, I struggle to see how their message of equal respect can be taken seriously when they do not show equal respect in their advertising campaigns. What they are effectively saying is that, to them, human women are less worthy of respect than any other living being. There are many evils in our world - I do what little I can to tackle as many of those as I can, and I don't to the view that it is acceptable to support one form of evil in order to combat another. The ends never justifies the means!
