Guest guest Posted May 18, 2007 Report Share Posted May 18, 2007 http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200770511039 A Michigan meat and seafood company is voluntarily recalling about 129,000 pounds of its beef products because they may have been contaminated with E. coli.The beef products from David Creek Meats and Seafood were sold in 15 states, including Kentucky and Indiana, between March 1 and April 30, according to a news release late tonight from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.Each box of meat bears the message: “Manufactured for Gordon Food Service” or “Distributed by Gordon Food Service.”According to its Web site, www.gfs.com, Gordon has three GFS Marketplace stores in Louisville at 641 S. Hurstbourne Pkwy., 7483 Dixie Highway and at Jefferson Mall at 7389 Jefferson Blvd.Gordon also has a distribution center in Shepherdsville.Attempts to reach company representatives late tonight were unsuccessful.The recalled products include boxes of ground beef and mechanically tenderized steaks of various weights and cuts.Boxes of the meats also bear the label “Est. 1947A” inside the USDA inspection mark and have a date code between “060” and “120.”The problem was discovered by the Michigan Department of Community Health after an illness investigation.Signs of E. coli infection include severe stomach cramps and diarrhea that can become bloody.Reporter Charlie White can be reached at (502) 582-4653. __________________ www.isawearthlings.com Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
