Howies, well known for its use of environmentally-sound products and organically sourced material, has come up with an alternative to the use of wasteful plastic. Founders Clare and David Hieatt have now begun to use tagua nuts which come from a palm tree in South America on their clothes. Mrs Hieatt said, “We try to look at all the details to make sure they are as low impact as possible.In the past we have just used off-the-shelf buttons and a lot of them are made from plastic. “But our designer sourced for us the tagua nut.
