i've had a " club card " for years with my favorite local

supermarket; in fact, i pay about $15 per year for the privilege of

shopping there. every time i shop there, i show them the card. it goes

into their computer, and they know everything i buy.

why do i have no problem absolutely with this?

well, its just membership in my local co-op:

http://obpeoplesfood.coop/

membership at OB Peoples is voluntary, and members pay a bit less

than non-members. contrary to the articles printed above, i have great

loyalty to Peoples. its vegetarian; the deli is vegan. we're lucky to

have this place in our community, and i honestly have no problem if

they " know " what i buy.

This is certainly a good exception but the bigger picture is much

different.
