republicanos, ficou furiosa e disse que nunca mais vai votar no partido.Aí vai a notícia: Group holds "PETA" BBQBy JESSIE COLEMANAlligator WriterThe smoky smell of barbecue wafted across the Plaza of the Americas on Wednesday, mingling with the ethnic spices of Krishna Lunch. At a table just across the sidewalk from the long line of students waiting to buy a vegetarian meal, the College Republicans served pulled pork, barbecue chicken, baked beans, coleslaw and buttery toast. The food was part of their annual "PETA" barbecue, which stands for People Eating Tasty Animals. The event was catered by David's Real Pit BBQ for $500. The event started three years ago, but this was the first year that the organization got a permit to hold the barbecue on campus. Though the College Republicans did not charge for the food, they strongly suggested that students

contribute donations. They also sold $15 T-shirts, which depicted a portly individual licking a pig on a stick as if it were a lollipop. Allen Tam, a sophomore who often eats the vegetarian Krishna Lunch, opted instead for a heaping plateful of pulled pork and barbecue chicken. "You can indulge once in a year," Tam said. But not everyone enjoyed the change. Clare Naponick, another sophomore, was dawdling over to the barbecue when the acronym "PETA" caught her eye. Naponick, a 12-year vegetarian and 10-year member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - the other PETA - was appalled when she saw the trays of meat and the T-shirts. Naponick, who considered herself a Republican before the incident, stormed off, angry and offended. "I just don't see what being a Republican has to do with eating tasty animals," she said. "I won't vote Republican now." Despite the

controversy, all the food - enough for 100 people - was eaten. http://www.alligator.org/pt2/070301peta.php Links do Grupos<*> Para visitar o site do seu grupo na web, acesse:http://br.abolicionistas/<*> Para sair deste grupo, envie um e-mail para:abolicionistas-<*> O uso que você faz do Grupos está sujeito aos:http://br./info/utos.html
