Guest guest
Colin and I went for our pre-Yule lunch on Friday. It was lovely - went to our favourite restaurant - The Riverside Vegetaria. I had garlic mushrooms for starters, cous cous with chickpea curry and salad for main and chocolate fudge cake with Swedish glace for desert. Colin had turnip and chestnut soup, followed by butternut squash, chickpea and potato casserole with rice and salad, followed by almond cake and Swedish Glace. Today was my works lunch. The starter was crostini with caramelised red onions, olives and tomatoes served with rocket (normally it would have had goats cheese on top). The main course was meant to be winter vegetable paella, but it was stodgy like a risotto. There was too much rice and only about six lumps of butternut squash and peas in it. I also had some of the vegetables - carrots, green beans, parsnips and brussel sprouts. The desert was (again) chocolate fudge cake. It was all okay. It was a happy occasion though as there were so many of us (about 50) we took up the whole of the upstairs of the pub, and a quiz had been arranged, and some games.
