(Advertisement) The Drnovsek, who has battled cancer for years, lives a solitary life in a village outside Ljubljana, growing his own vegetables and baking bread. " Knowing that a president of a European Union country opposes experiments on animals, hunt, intensive breeding and transport to slaughterhouses, is more than a consolation, it is hope, " Bardot said in a letter to Drnovsek. Drnovsek, sometimes dubbed the New Age president, recently published a book promoting a healthy lifestyle, after his first book on positive thinking became a bestseller in Slovenia and neighbouring Croatia. " You are right when you condemn shameful EU subsidies for intensive breeding, " Bardot said. " Economy should not lead everything and Europe should not look up to countries that do not respect animals, that do not respect anything, and all of this in the name of profit which tramples on everything, " she said. Referring to the presidential campaign in France, Bardot said: " If only we had a candidate like Drnovsek, or even a shadow of him, the world would quickly become less intolerable.
