Guest guest
Just doing laundry and I have come up with another product I haven't been able to find a compassionate alternative for. Chlorine bleach? I got some oxy powder that I can use for the brightening, but what I usually use bleach for is the germ killing for towels and the like. Any suggestions? thx sharon Sponsored Link Mortgage rates as low as 4.625% - $150,000 loan for $579 a month. Intro-*Terms
Guest guest
HI Sharon I put six drops of tea tree oil in the soap dispenser of my washing machine. Tea tree oil is antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal - and does the job well. You could also use lavender oil. If you don't like oils you could use white vinegar as a softener. Vinegar kills a good proportion of germs. Guest guest
Thanks, Jo. My detergent (Trader Joe's brand) says it has lavender in it ... I wonder if it is just a scent or if it perhaps would work as a disinfectant? Does lavender work as a disinfectant or just smell good? I will have to check out the tea tree oil. Last time I used it was to put on a nose piercing ... particularly in its location I don't recall apprecating the scent overly much. thx sharonheartwerk <jo.heartwork wrote: HI SharonI put six drops of tea tree oil in the soap dispenser of my washing machine. Guest guest
Got the non-chlorine covered, but that stuff only whitens and brightens doesn't it? It's the germs in the nasty towels and cleaning cloths I am after. Hmmm. Germs. Living creatures. If we are concerned about maggots, why not germs? peace, sharonfraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: seventh generation, as well as several others, make a non chlorine bleach you can also use hydrogen peroxide for many of the same uses chlorine did... Guest guest
Lavender does work as disinfectant but is not as strong as tea tree oil.
