DECATUR — Tucked inside Wellness Secrets is an eating establishment unlike any other in town, serving only healthy selections. Bernie and Marisol Schlageck began to serve the local community a completely new type of dining — vegan fare — with tasty twists on old favorites last week. The Schlagecks are new to Decatur, but are skilled in the business of food service, having worked in cafeteria settings for lifestyle centers in the past. “ We want to help people make lifestyle changes which will promote health, ” Marisol said. “ Healthy eating is one part of a healthy lifestyle. ” The couple will serve whole foods with natural fiber rather than the overly processed and refined foods served at most restaurants. They feel it will bring together the attitude and atmosphere of Wellness Secrets. “ This will complement the instruction received through treatment and education here. We will also offer free cooking classes, ” Marisol said. Vegan indicates nothing on the menu will contain animal products such as dairy or eggs. Each week will be divided into different ethnic selections, such as a traditional fare, Mexican, Italian and other international favorites. The food promises to be guiltless gourmet food and home cooked. The restaurant will be open 11 a. m. to 3 p. m., Sunday through Thursday. Patrons may dine in or carry out.
