Guest guest
Hi Anouk, I`m glad you had a lovely upbringing. My father was always in work ( or so it seemed ) he was a milkman so was up early, either on rounds / collecting/ down the dairy, doing books, catching up on sleep or wieghing / bagging spuds etc...( in fact his heart attacks both happened while out on his rounds ) and my mother brought up the family with very little help from him . He was absolutely the worst businessman ever, allowing loads of his customers off his small round to owe him money, and ran errands for the older ones etc...so we saw little of him and had v. little money, me being the youngest had the pleasure of all my brothers ( and some of my sisters ) hand me downs. He instilled a very strong work ethic in me, and even though he wasnt the most "hands on" touchy feely father in the world we all thought the world of him - I think his idea of a father was spoilt by his father being a very cruel man. Still I have a very traditional veiw on family life. The Valley Vegan.............. Had he lived with us, I would've had a miserablechildhood.I had a lot of loving aunts. my uncle, was a positive male influence. on the contrary,my husband's parents did not get along and would yell everyday, they stayed together "for the sake of the children"and it was detrimental for him. years and years of misery of trying to work it out. I had a tres happy childhood with just one parent.all the energy that she would've spent on my alcoholic father, she gave to me , "earthstrm" wrote:>> Hi Peter> > Very well put on all accounts!> > My father raised me on his own since I was 5.
