Guest guest
Busted for a T-shirt Hello Friends: This note is going to everyone good enough to take time to write an email message of support after I got arrested at the Jesse Brown V.A. Medical Center in Chicago for wearing a Veterans For Peace t-shirt. I attempted to answer each of the over 500 letters I received, but if I missed you somehow, please accept my apologies and thanks. By the way, out of that total, only 3 letters were nasty!. Many people who wrote asked what they could do to help. Lots of people said they would go to their local V.A. facility with a peace t- shirt. Some wanted to know where they could get a VFP shirt (www.veteransforpeace.org). Others wanted to write or call the V.A. to complain. Here is where you can contact V.A. officials: Office of the Inspector General 810 Vermont Ave. NW Washington, D.C. 20420 800-488-8244 vaoighotline and send a copy to: James S. Jones, Director Jesse Brown V.A. Medical Center 820 S. Damen Ave. Chicago, IL 60612 312-569-8287 fax: 6188 Many people also asked if I had a legal defense fund and where they could send a contribution. Late last night my web-guy and I worked out the last of the bugs on my new site that we'd been working on for several weeks, and you can now visit it at www.mikeferner.org where you can read about this case and others and contribute online if you'd like. For those using tried and true bank drafts, you can send a check to my home address: 2975 113th St. Toledo, Ohio 43611. Thank you again for your letter of support. I'll keep you posted. Be well. Raise hell. mike ferner P.S. Yesterday a reporter called from New Jersey to ask about the arrest, and told me that the Associated Press carried a story that said I was not only drinking a cup of coffee but eating a hot dog. I don't know how far these people will go to sully a reputation, but I was NOT eating a hot dog or a hamburger, or veggie burger, or fish sandwich, or cheese danish. I was drinking a cup of iced coffee. " NOTICE: Due to Presidential Executive Orders, the National Security Agency may have read this email without warning, warrant, or notice.
