CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY RIGHTS THREATENED BY BIOTECH INDUSTRY

The California Assembly's Agriculture Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing

on June 28th to consider the most recent " Monsanto Law, " SB1056, an attack on

the rights of counties to regulate genetically engineered (GE) crops. SB1056,

would prevent cities and counties from passing any local regulation on seeds,

including a prohibition on GE crops, while undermining existing local ordinances

that restrict GE in agriculture, and prohibiting any future citizen initiatives
