Guest guest
Hello all, My favourite smoothie is the one that gives me a boost of energy. I mix frozen berries, soy milk, orange juice (can do without), hemp protein, a dash of hemp oil and hemp nuts, and greens powder. When I make too much coffee, I add it to the mix instead of juice. This smoothie is practically a meal. Beside the fact that it is delisious, it also helps to squeeze vitamins, fiber and minerals into the kids diet. Kids just love it! Note that adding too much help protein changes the texture and makes the smoothie less 'smooth', so use it in moderation! Best, Olga. Guest guest
Last summer, a member of this list wrote about her smoothies and her adding all types of greens to a typical smoothie. I think she may have called it her salad smoothie, I don't know for sure. That has been one of the best suggestions and ever since, I have never made a smoothie without adding greens! So, on that note, I buy frozen organic mixed fruit, throw a handful of that in the blender, a banana, leftover oj if available, soy milk (whatever flavor is in the fridge), tablespoon of flax oil, tablespoon of hemp seed or flax seed or psyllium, usually a half cup or more of Stoneyfield Banilla yogurt ( if I have it on hand) and blend. Once that is blended I throw in a big handful of spinach and whirl some more. Now the color may not be the greatest, but you cannot taste the greens at all! Now, I am not crazy about salads so this hint was the best way for me to add a serving of greens into my day. I had lunch with a friend today who told me she is buying small Thai coconuts, cracking them open and adding the juice and the meat to her morning smoothie and she is loving that! Now I am on the hunt for those; she said the meat is much more tender than the typical coconut. Enjoy the day! Cheryl
