Guest guest
Yes my trees give me 2 harvest times also. In mid July and then again around September. I love it. The first one is more productive though, with my trees. Boy I eat a cereal bowl full at a time and have no side effects, that you speak of. lol Right now, they have slowed down and I'm getting only about 6-10 a day ripening. I have to get them before the birds and bees. Nothing like finding them half eaten on the tree or pulling one off and getting stung by a bee on the opposite side of the fig, that you didn't see. Ouch. They are really large. The fruit seem to have two distinct stages, I harvested a whole bunch in late June early July (took them to a 4th of July party and grilled them filled with goat cheese and honey), ate a bunch, dried a few, made the fig newton recipe in the files (it was good but very time consuming) and used them in a couple of salads. I also froze a batch after splitting them in half. I would eat more of them but it is best not to eat more than 4-5 a day....if you know what I mean. So now I have just a few ripening (enough to eat a couple fresh every day) and a bunch of very little still very green figs just ripening. It looks like I'll get another big harvest in early fall. Do your trees do this also? is it normal to get two harvests? not that I am complaining.... Guest guest
Oh, yum! I'm so envious--I just paid a fortune for 10 Turkish figs. They were amazing and I hardly ever buy them, so it was a wonderful treat, but, boy, do I remember how much all the kids my neighborhood loved picking and eating them from a generous neighbor's tree when I was little. Enjoy your bounty! Peace, Mo wwjd wrote: > Yes my trees give me 2 harvest times also. In mid July and then again around September. I love it. The first one is more productive though, with my trees.
