Guest guest
Judy I also have 2 fig trees, and from looking at information and pictures in websites I figured they are the Turkish ones (trees are very old and did not come with a label). They are really large. The fruit seem to have two distinct stages, I harvested a whole bunch in late June early July (took them to a 4th of July party and grilled them filled with goat cheese and honey), ate a bunch, dried a few, made the fig newton recipe in the files (it was good but very time consuming) and used them in a couple of salads. I also froze a batch after splitting them in half. I would eat more of them but it is best not to eat more than 4-5 a day....if you know what I mean. So now I have just a few ripening (enough to eat a couple fresh every day) and a bunch of very little still very green figs just ripening. It looks like I'll get another big harvest in early fall. Do your trees do this also? is it normal to get two harvests? not that I am complaining.... Roseta , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > Oh joy, Figs are finally ripening up on my 2 trees.
