Guest guest
Here's a link for you. demerara sugar http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-demerara-sugar.htm This is a beautiful sugar for ginger cookies or any spicy cinnamon cookie, I use it for date bread and several other recipes. I like to roll my cookies in it for a nice crunch. It's a pure sugar but it isn't as sweet as white granulated sugar so if you need the sweetness you will need to add a bit more to your recipe. It has more of a molasses taste to it. Donna --- On Wed, 7/9/08, lizart555 <lizart555 wrote: lizart555 <lizart555 Demerara sugar??? Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 11:34 AM Hello, I am new to the group and am truly enjoying the conversations! I do have a question, if anyone can enlighten me as to what demerara sugar is and where I would go to find it (for purchase)??? ? I just made a Cherry-Walnut Banana Bread from the Fatfree Vegan Kitchen website, and the author recommends using this sugar in many of her dessert recipies. Thanks, Liza
