Guest guest
I know a huge number of members like Moosewood Cookbooks, but I'm one of the few that doesn't, they are labor intensive which I don't mind because I will spend the day in the kitchen, I feel they could use shortcuts and I wasn't impressed with anything I've made from those cookbooks yet. I put a few of them on hold at the library. I just received a notice that they are ready for pick up. I can't wait to see what they contain! I hope that they are not too labor intensive. I like to cook, but not that much! -Gypsy
Guest guest
Good to know ladies! When I first became a veg*n I started to just buy cookbooks. It has helped that I get them from the library first to try a few things out. What I have learned is that I really do so much better when I go off the top of my head for most stuff. Some things I will consult the cookbooks for a general idea. When I have cooked from the cookbooks, the food has been so so. It could be that I have a very ethnic palette and some of the recipes leave me wanting more or as if something it missing. I have ruled out so many cookbooks that way. I am also learning that since going veg, I really like a spicier and robust dish. I liked spicy food when an omni, but not as much as I crave it now. Today I made some Szechuan green beans with sticky rice and was floored that it was very close to what I would purchase at the Chinese restaurant. And it did what my taste buds needed! Phew! And even more off topic..I love tofu scramble! I finally made my second batch of tofu scramble (first time EVER cooking with tofu) and I am hooked. It is a great way to get a lot of veggies in.and I load in fried rice and potatoes so that my little one will get into it too! I was not sure about trying tofu or cooking it so it took me a month before I did. Another PHEW! I really like tofu! Anyway, I will let you know how it goes with Moosewood and me once I pick them up from the library tomorrow! -Gypsy Sun Jun 22, 2008 5:31 pm (PDT) I know a huge number of members like Moosewood Cookbooks, but I'm one of the few that doesn't, they are labor intensive which I don't mind because I will spend the day in the kitchen, I feel they could use shortcuts and I wasn't impressed with anything I've made from those cookbooks yet.
