Guest guest
Time for another Question of the Week - What special plans do you have for Father's day - Dads, granddads, uncles, big brothers.there are lots of father figures to honor today. What a great day to let the men in our lives know how much we love them. It may not be your father, but a special man that is very dear to you. We all have special friends that are like family to us, so even when we can't be with our father's, why not find an elderly man that has no one with them this father's day and include them in your plans. Also gift ideas are always needed for the men in our lives. LOL Please share your ideas for this also. Looking for your ideas of inspiration for making this day a very nice day for our families and men. This site has some very good ideas http://allrecipes.com/HowTo/The-Ultimate-Guide-to-Fathers-Day/Detail.aspx?ARBMID\ =1554 & ARFMTID=1 (Just ignore the meat ideas and replace them with your meat substitutes). Judy Look for My splashes of joy. Laughter is good medicine--it's a great " shock absorber " for life's unexpected bumps. It helps take the monotony out of everyday life. Don't miss out on the continual feast of a cheerful heart. You'll see that a happy heart bubbles over into a smile. Guest guest
We will be unpacking. Loading truck on Friday, drive and unload Saturday, unpack Sunday. My father has been ill with Chronic Fatigue, so he will not be able to join us in all our " fun " . My sis is incharge if his gift this year. He likes playing Brain Age on his Nintendo DS, so getting another game like that is an option... For my husband, I will give him the cards I bought from our daughter and I. And, he will probably be in want of a massage after the move, so that will be my gift. Ooooh, we had to send our first child, 90 lb American Pit, to live with a friend in NY as we couldn't give him enough love with our work schedules and our daughter (and I think he is missing her more than us! LOL!) I made my husband a 20x30 collage print of photos with our daughter and Rebel. It will be our first package at the new house. Cassie " life's a garden, dig it! Guest guest
What about writing your father a love and thanks letter......a letter telling him how much you love him.....how much the things he did in your childhood have meant to you in terms of your adult life and in the lives of your children. If your father is a veteran, tell him how proud you are of him for serving his country.....if not tell him how proud you are that he is your dad. I am sure you can find something to be proud of about him and his life. Sit down with your dad.....ask him questions about his childhood....questions about his parents and about when your parents met. Just let him know that he is a very important part of your life. If he has special skills that would be of interest or would help your Brownie's learn something special.....ask him to talk to or show your girls about that skill. I was a Girl Scout leader 3 different times for my daughters.....you will see why three different times when I tell you their ages. My oldest daughters are 34 and 31....my younger daughters are 24, 20 and 18. I used to love to take my Girl Scouts to visit with older people who knew about the way things " used " to be done. Kind of like a Juliette Low Day Learning time without all of the fanfare. And when they become older Girl Scouts, they might be able to use information they learned from your dad to help them get a badge. I wish my Dad were still alive so I could just give him a hug and tell him how much I love him. He has been gone since 1996 and my Mom since 1984.....I miss them both very much.....every day.
