Guest guest
This is quick and most delicious. We like it with spaghetti or a salad. Myrtle Cheese Quick Bread 2 cups flour 1 tbsp. granulated sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 cup cold butter or margarine 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar or Monterey jack cheese (for a spicy bread use a pepper cheese!) 1 cup milk or soy milk 1 egg, beaten Optional: 1 tsp. seasoned pepper blend (I use it) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix dry ingredients; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese. Add combined milk and egg; stirring just until moistened. Spoon the batter into a greased and floured 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake 45 minutes. Cool in pan 5 minutes; remove from pan. Cool on wire rack.
