3 dates -- (3 to 4), pitted

1/2 cup hot water

1 cup blanched almonds

 

Soak the dates in the water until soft.

 

Place the dates and their soaking liquid in a blender, add the almonds, and

blend until smooth and creamy. Store in the refrigerator, tightly covered, until

ready to use, up to 1 week.

 

Makes about 1 1/2 cups (yields 6 one-half cup servings)

 

 

 

Seductively rich and deceptively healthful, this versatile topping can be served

on pies, bread pudding, fruit, and even pancakes - just use your imagination.
