Hi there everyone!

Thanks for all the lovely recipes you have been providing! Vegetarian cooking is

never

boring!

I wonder if you can help me?

Here in the UK I take a magazine called 'Permaculture Magazine' and they mention

this

product which the magazine will be reviewing in the next issue. Has anyone used

it- is it any

good for vegi food? I'm interested because we have a lot of wood and using it

might save a

lot of electricity. Carbon footprints and all that!

Thanks so much!

Good morning Kate,

My daughter and I have several 'Dutch Ovens' but not this particular

brand name. I have an antique with *legs* that I don't use but the

others we use not only for camping but at home. They require less

energy and can be used on the campfire, stove or oven. We even bake in

ours. Do some research before buying and be aware of the quality of the

cast iron. Some are imported poor quality steel. It is very important

to season cast iron before using. Some come " pre-seasoned " but they

should still be seasoned. Be prepared to pay a good price for a quality

piece.

Thanks Deanna!

Not many people have these here, in fact no-one at all that I know of. The make

advertised is

quite expensive so I should think it is a good one. I think we will order one an

see how we

get on. It comes with a recipe book but I suspect that many of the culinary

delights start off

with 'take half a cow......' !

It sounds like you and your daughter are at home with dutch ovens and that's a

good enough

recommendation for me!

Have a great day,

Kate
