Guest guest
Hi, Kelly, I will respond for myself. After becoming vegan, I found that eating ANY meat products made me ill. About a month or so after becoming vegan a " vegetarian " girlfriend invited me for lunch. I told her I was vegan and assumed since she was " vegetarian " she understood. When I went back to work, I didn't feel so good. Shortly thereafter, I was hanging onto the toilet bowl in the ladies room. I could not figure out what it could be. I finally called my girl friend and asked her what EXACTLY was in her delicious soup. CHICKEN BROTH! Since then, I have been served chicken broth two more times. The second time, I had been vegan for about ten years. I unknowingly was served chicken broth twice a day for three days. I was having stomach problems the whole time and thought I was nervous because of the situation, and under a lot of stress. But I was getting worse. The last meal, the food was served SWIMMING in the chicken broth and when I tasted it, I said it did not taste right and my husband questioned it and we found out I had been eating it for three days! I wound up deathly ill for three days. The longer I am vegan, the larger amount of animal product I seem to be able to tolerate before becoming ill. But I don't like to be ill and prefer to avoid all animal products that do this to me. Jo-Ann TN _____ On Behalf Of Kelly Best Wednesday, May 14, 2008 3:43 PM Re: How to be polite? " Can you tell me how you explain to people that you don't eat anything that had meat touching it. " and another " How much intelligence does that take? " This probably sounds strange, but I am more than curious as to why someone can't eat a veggie burger cooked on a grill with meat. I'm a new vegetarian, and it wouldn't bother me a bit if someone made spagetti and threw in meatballs. I'd just pick out the meatballs. I cook meat for my family, so I'm still " touching " it and will use the same pan to fry theirs and mine. I'm sure everyone will probably be upset with my " un " intelligence, but I guess I'm just one of those that doesn't have the intelligence that it takes to know better:). So please no geting upset with me, I just really don't get it, unless it would be an allergy thing and could cause serious health issues. Thanks in advance for being gentle! kelly, FL
