Valerie,

Do you use organic produce? I have a lot of problems with the waxes

and washes stores use on fresh fruits and veggies. For a couple of

years I couldn't eat apples because they were making me sick

sometimes, but not all the time, and I finally figured out it was the

type of wax being used. I've never had a problem with anything

straight from a farm.

I've not been very careful about organic veggies @ the grocery. They

often seem to be packaged up more than the other produce and/or maybe

not as fresh looking. I know I should become more particular about

this. Inside my brain I have been thinking all along that it was from

the cucumbers that were purchased @ Sam's all bagged up inside a

package. The other items except the scallions which I've used about

half the bag already were from a produce stand. I did not end up

trying to slice any of those vegies today but must give it a go

tomorrow. maybe I will find the culprit and I'm sure hoping it was

those store bought/packaged cucumbers!

Good luck and hopefully that's all it is! I finally talked myself into

joining a local CSA this year which only gives out organic produce since

things are getting so expensive. I'm also going to try to hit more of the

local farmers selling their produce at small stands.

I've searched for CSA here and no such luck. Being in FL you would

think there would be an abundance of this sort of thing.

may have found the culprit. Just sliced 5 or 6 more of these wonderful

little slender cucumbers and my fingertips of my hand holding the veges

did begin to really tingle! I wanted to slice up the rest of the bag

to see if it would become full blown like Monday but my hubby insisted

I stop. I washed with soap and water several times and 30 minutes

later while I do have an unusual sensation in that hand - not like

Monday night.

these cukes are from Canada and say they are greenhouse grown, hand

picked, pesticide free....... pre-packed in a bag. Weird. Not sure

what I do with this information other than not buy those again.

You should inform the grocery store and your local health authorities. The

reason is that others may have the same problem and if enough people report it,

it will be looked into - it could just be something you have to avoid

I've also had issues with the plastic packaging some produce comes in. You'd

be surprised what they use sometimes. I would definitely let the place where

you got them from know like the other writer suggested.

I live in a small town area and was shocked to find a CSA here - I can't

believe you're having such a hard time in Florida!
