Guest guest Posted May 13, 2008 Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 Ingredients: · Toor Dal 2 cups · Cabbage 1/2 · Green Chiles 3 · Turmeric Powder a big pinch · Salt to taste Tadka: · Urad Dal 1 tsp · Mustard Seeds 1 tsp · Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp · Broken Red Chiles 3 · Curry Leaves 4 Click to join r_e_a_c_h_o_u_t · Asafoetida a pinch · Oil 1 tbsp Method of preparation: · Wash toor dal with water thoroughly and pressure cook in 4 cups of water for 3 whistles. · Remove outer layers and chop cabbage finely. · Remove stems, wash and slit green chiles into two. · Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel, add all tadka ingredients in order. · When urad dal changes color, add green chiles, chopped cabbage, turmeric powder and salt. · Cook covered for few minutes or until cabbage is well cooked and soft. · Then add cooked toor dal and a cup of water. · Bring to boil and remove from heat. · Serve with rice or roti. · Notes: Squeeze fresh lemon juice just before serving if you wish. -- Posted By Reach Mentor to VEGETARIAN RECIPES at 5/13/2008 06:36:00 PM Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
