Guest guest
John, please read " Fit For Life " first version which was published in the 80's .. This book greatly explains " food combination " plus many other good stuff. Bloating of stomach is mostly caused by mixing different family of food which require different enzymes and differing times to break? down, of course the juicing will ease the stomach from the task of breaing down but still it is best to mix the same family of food which require same time to digest. Long before " Fit for Life " was published, earlier writers and researchers verified this fact over and over. If you eat fruit and vegetables at the same time the issue is not that you will have stomach problems, because that's unlikely. The important issue is the _quality_ of nutrition which is usably extracted from the foods. Fruits and vegetables require different enzymes for proper and full digestion and your body can't produce them all at the same time. The point is that if fruits and vegetables are consumed at the same time you won't get their full nutritional value; much of their vitamin content will become waste product. The literature is out there in abundance. In addition to Mr. Diamond's work mentioned above by Ed, for reference on nutrition and cleansing issues I strongly recommend the works of Dr. Norman Walker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_W._Walker and Dr. Bernard Jensen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Jensen and as early as the late 19th century, Dr. John Tilden wrote about food combining and recommended against combining fruit and vegetables. If someone feels they simply can_not_ drink plain vegetable juice, try adding a little cucumber or celery, or dilute it with clean water. If you still don't like the flavor, just drink it anyway -- the point is health, not fun. Do the right thing and consume high quality. Peace, V.
