Guest guest
Why do you know eat garlic, mushrooms and onions? Garlic and onions are vegetables just like any other vegetabe. I understand that some folks don't eat muchrooms, but not the others. Katie Deann <deannmt wrote: Hi Ofelia, Thank you for such a sincere, heartfelt response. How refreshing! I think it is the same for the non-vegetarians who have partners, or even friends who aren't of the same food preference. It's difficult to cook separate dishes for veggies and non-veggies for sure, aside from being more time-consuming, most likely it is also more expensive. However, what has worked for me as a vegetarian is to be clear as to what I can eat and what I can't (which is really difficult for others because I am strict lacto-vegetarian, without garlic, onions, mushrooms, seafood-eggs- and meat extracts, etc.) so that my friends do not feel hurt when I don't eat foods they serve. I don't want to hurt but I also don't want to compromise a lifestyle I have chosen. In the same way, I respect others' choices and I don't even bother give my opinion on food unless it is health-related and I am asked for it. However, here goes ...I think what will help is to find out what among the vegetarian choices are acceptable to your partner/loved ones so you can prepare what you commonly like without giving up on your preferences. My friends like my vegetarian barbecues, my siopaos, my tofu dishes, etc. as long as they taste good to their palate. Otherwise, they refuse what I offer them, eat what they want, we have a good laugh at the rubbery taste of some meat substitutes, tasteless veggies, and no one gets hurt because of clear choices. Good luck Deann. I am sure things will work out. Ofel Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.

Guest guest
Maybe this person just cannot tolerate garlic and onions, many people can't . It might have nothing to do with their choice to be a vegetarian. Just a thought. - Terri Partyka Sunday, May 04, 2008 8:15 PM Re: Re: Veggie and Non-Veggie: Ofelia I was wondering the same thing. ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ .·´ -:¦:- Terri -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´ On May 4, 2008, at 5:56 PM, Katie wrote: > Why do you NOT eat garlic, mushrooms and onions?
