Guest guest Posted April 30, 2008 Report Share Posted April 30, 2008 Old-Fashioned Fruit Candy 1 cup dried figs, about 1/4 lb 1 cup pitted dates 1 cup raisins 1 cup dried apricots 1 cup nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds) 1 tsp. grated lemon or orange rind 3 tbsps. lemon juice Grind fruits and nuts together through fine blade of food grinder. Then add juice and rind. Line a pan with wax paper. Pack fruit mixture well, and smooth the top. Place a weight on top and let stand for a few hours, then cut into squares. Decorate tops with shredded coconut or walnut halves. Optional additions: add 1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ, or 1 cup granola-type cereal after grinding.
