Guest guest
Great question and I've been enjoying the answers from everyone. My Mom worked two jobs so I was in the kitchen at a very young age and I loved it. She taught me to be very careful, turn the pan handles in, roll up your sleeves, always use hot pads never a dish cloth, stand back, don't let any grease splatter, etc. I didn't have much to experiment with but I was always creative and I loved reading all her cookbooks so I would use them and if I didn't have an ingredient I would alter the recipe. I also grew up in an area with a lot of mixed cultures around me. I would eat at neighbors homes, I loved eating everything they served. My Mom being vegan and not such a good cook left a lot to be desired. She could have won awards with her breads and pastries though. She never ate her baking, she baked to share with everyone else.
