I experimented with the flavors to come up with this substitute

mustard . Because I love Veganaise it is the basic ingredient for all

my condiments and salad dressings.

Mustard

1/2 cup Veganaise ***

1/2 teas. dry mustard

1/2 teas. Turmeric

1/4 teas. garlic powder

1/4 teas. onion powder

Mix all ingredients, chill for several hours or overnight to allow

flavors to blend.

*** You can substitute soft tofu and add salt and pepper to taste

Oh I'm sorry about that. I thought Veganaise was Vegan because it has

no animal products or dairy. I apologize if my mustard recipe is not

Vegan.

Hehe. I think she was wondering why you make your mustard. Is

mustard (from the store) ordinarily not vegan?

Terri,

Now I see..LOL..Senior moment here. I just try to make everything

from scratch, except for *Veganaise* (Tee hee) and forget that many

people do not. I also hate to spend lots of money for something I can

make cheaper and does not come in plastic containers of any kind.

Some mustard recipes call for cream and even raw eggs so that is why

I always note that my recipes are " Vegetarian-Vegan " . Donna sent me

some mustard recipes a couple years ago and since then I am in love

with home made mustard. I have bought organic mustard but so far have

not seen a product marked " Vegetarian/Vegan " . Wondered why if there

are no animal products in them .

Deanna, Terri, another reason to make ones own mustard would be if you

grow it and end up with a lot of mustard seeds. So why not use what

one has instead of buying it at the store? If our mustards grow well

this year we will be making use of some of the home made mustard

recipes, so thanks!

Also, I see no reason one could not make one's own vegan mayonnaise.

I make all i oli regularly which is vegan and very similar to mayo

(but very garlicky). One of these days i will try for a home made

vegan mayo, if I am successful I'll post the instructions.
