Guest guest Posted March 26, 2008 Report Share Posted March 26, 2008 @@@@@ Spicy Tofu and Broccoli Stir-Fry 2 tablespoons tamari or other soy sauce 1 tablespoon water 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar, (or a natural sweetener) 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 pound broccoli flowerets, trimmed 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger 8 ounces firm tofu, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 3 tablespoons minced scallion Hot cooked long-grain white rice In a small bowl stir together the tamari, water, salt, sugar, sesame oil and cornstarch. Set aside. In a large skillet or wok heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 30 seconds, transferring them as they are cooked with a slotted spoon to paper towels to drain. When finished stir-frying the broccoli, add the garlic, red pepper flakes, ginger, and tofu, and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Return the broccoli to the skillet and stir-fry for 1 minute. Add the tamari mixture and the scallion and stir-fry one minute longer, or until the broccoli is just tender and coated with the sauce. Serve over rice.
