Guest guest
Best to call ahead and talk to the manager before dining out at any restaurant. This week just to check with a couple restaurants that I had not been to in the past , I called and my question was " do you have any Vegetarian items on your menu? All said " yes " . When I asked to explain I was told " we have a Vegetarian breakfast and that's all. " You should ask if the Vegetarian burger and eggs are prepared on the same grill as the bacon and sausage. They are. The time to ask is while on the phone not at the restaurant. Remember that refried beans and tortillas are made with lard. I have ordered a Vegetarian soup and was told it had no meat or meat broth. I immediatly tasted a fish-clam base. I was told by the manager that clam was not meat. This is not the time to put up a fuss. You just might have your plate returned with a piece of raw meat on it. I did. My daughter noticed it first. A piece of raw sausage. One Chinese restaurant explained that Vegetarian items are prepared in a different skillet or wok. They get my business. Guest guest
The restaurants that we go to in SoCal do not cook beans with lard. That is a no-no. We have no problems with the restaurants that we normally go to. If it is a drive in that is different. Sorry to differ with you, but here in SoCal our refrieds and tortillas are not always made with lard. Guest guest
I live in SoCal too, and some do, some don't. Baja fresh does not, and neither Rubio's. The mom and pop places sometimes do. My biggest peeve is that they tell you they do not, but they use lard (they do not think you will be able to tell?) Unfortunately I cannot tell but from the after taste and how I feel afterwards. There is a general trend towards getting away from lard in the Mexican community, so hopefully less and less places will be using lard. , SonnieB <sonnie3 wrote: > > > The restaurants that we go to in SoCal do not cook beans with lard.
