Guest guest
She told me one time that she didn't eat butter.....it tasted like a cow had stepped in the pail of milk with a dirty hoof. She may have been referring to something called farmer's butter.? I had this many years ago while visiting family and I recall that it tasted like a barnyard.? A very distinct, not pleasant, flavor.? It really all depends on what one gets used to, I guess.? The people who served it thought it was great. TM
Guest guest
Thank goodness I have never tasted butter with that " barnyard " , " farmer's " butter taste. I think it would have turned me off of butter too. I figured she had probably eaten butter made from cream that came off of the top of a pail of milk that the cow had actually stepped it. I like my butter to taste like fresh, creamy butter and nothing else. I am sure they could not afford to waste the milk or cream...this would have probably happened sometime between 1918 when she was born and sometime in the 1920's when she got old enough to put her own butter on bread or refuse it. Does not sound to yummy. Nancy C. She may have been referring to something called farmer's butter.? I had this many years ago while visiting family and I recall that it tasted like a barnyard.?
