Guest guest
Most rennet is made from calves' stomachs. Here is a link which explains http://www.vegsoc.org/info/cheese.html It is possible to find cheese that is made with non-animal rennet, but that would still not be vegan because it is made with milk. So it sounds like you are a lacto vegetarian. Christie , " mamtahem " <mamtahem wrote: > > are you sure? what is rennet? >
Guest guest
Rennet is an enzyme that causes milk to form curds.....it comes from the lining of a calves stomach. With that said, you can also get vegetable rennet to use in cheese making but I believe most commercial concerns use the regular kind. Here is a website where you can order vegetable rennet for cheese making. http://www.cheesemaking.com/product_info-cPath-36_53-products_id-140-PHPSESSID-4\ 95a0abb9f21c696af325a12200bb125.php Nancy C. Guest guest
So many terms make me confused. lol I think I am going to be switching to pure soy in all areas. I don't like the idea of consuming any animal parts at all. Not even a little. jeannie christie_0131 <christie0131 wrote: Most rennet is made from calves' stomachs.
