Guest guest
After reading about seed sprouters in this group I had one of those " Wow! I coulda had a V-8! " moments. We've been growing green onions for several years, which works great because I eat them and my wife doesn't. When I used to buy a bunch at the store, part of it would always go bad and have to be thrown out. The same is true for us with respect to sprouts. So I've ordered the Kitchen Crop Seed Sprouter from Hirt's Gardens via Amazon. My question is, once I use up the seeds that (I assume) come with the sprouter, where do I order more seeds? Where do you order your seeds for sprouting? Thanks, Mike
Guest guest
Most health food stores carry mung bean and other seeds and whole grains that can be sprouted (wheat sprouts are delicious added to homemade bread or muffins). East Indian and some other Asian groceries and select supermarkets may carry a limited variety also, but not always in obvious places. It's usually cheaper to buy in bulk than in packages. Most anything will sprout, but some sprouts (fenugreek comes to mind) require a bit more rinsing or they'll quickly get slimy and have to be thrown out. A Mason jar with an open ring lid and a piece of plastic screening cut out to fit inside of it is all that you really need for sprouting, but it requires that you rinse them manually several times a day or more, and not everyone can fit that into their schedule. I had a heck of a time with it when I was working. Thanks for reminding me of this though, I'm going to dig up a Mason jar and that leftover screening! ______________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
