Well worth reading. http://www.vegparadise.com/protein.html Judy - wwjd Wednesday, February 20, 2008 1:28 PM Re: Re: Protein sources in the Vegetarian Diet There is protein in most all veggies, grains, fruit, nuts and seeds. Check out these two websites for lots of great info on protein in different vegetarian foods. http://www.vegparadise.com/basics.html http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm Judy - mylameoww Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:00 AM Re: Welcome, Nancy, and some ideas Hi Zelda, Is your granbaby Raine a vegan baby? If so I am curious about what foods are being given for protein. I have a one year old son, and I am raising him vegetarian, as I am, but I am ever concerned about if I am feeding him protein adequately! He does eat a huge variety of foods that I would suspect some babies wouldn't like so I know what you mean. But I am just curious, I never know if he is getting enough protein?? Thanks!~Danielle , " Zelda " <zel29 wrote: > > Hi Nancy and welcome, > > You are going to be so glad you joined here and your tummy is going to be very happy. > > I am also in California - South San Francisco. In nearby Pacifica, a little coastal town, there is a wonderful Farmers Market that carries a lot of local organically grown produce. It is always fresh and lovely and we buy most of our produce and a lot of other items there. Also we are organic gardeners and have a nice yard with apple trees and herbs and things. I am always very proud of my beautiful homemade applesauce which is organic and my apples are so sweet I don't even use any sweetener. My Grandchildren all love it. Baby Raine, who is 1 year old, has never had any other applesauce. > > The recipes here are so fantastic. You won't be able to cook them all fast enough. I joined to learn tips on how to cook for my vegan Son-in-law. He thinks he has died and gone to heaven (LOL). Even baby Raine loves the stuff I make for Papa. > How many one year olds do you know who will eat sauerkraut, fried cabbage, all kinds of sprouts made in her Papa's " kitchen garden " , all sorts of veggies and greens, beets. I have to laugh at her very interesting diet. And all those raw and vegan things are very high in nutrients according to my SIL. We are all trying new things since he became a vegan. > > Zelda > > >
