The first of many political demonstrations. Many, many songs he wrote were political. i.e. give peace a chance, imagine, gonna start a revolution, etc. He pulblicy protested britains involvment in Biafra. Publicly was vocal against america's involvement in Vietnam. many, many New Yoerkers, remember a humongous, one of many.. Billboard that was completely white, with black letters with the the words " WAR IS OVER " in in parenthesis below (if you want it) There were a number of american radicals which john and yoko were friends with. including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry rubin, etc. He's got entire albums which are nothing but political songs. The FBI, had him under 24 hour surveillance for years and years and grounds that he was a threat to national security. one week before he was shot he was due to attend a labor strike rally. nixon, and the CIA took away his visa one week before he was supposed to attend and Anti-Vietnam protest in front of the Republican National Convention in sand diego. This was in 1972. Several thousand people attended the rally but he was unable to. it is well known that his phones were tapped. and it took him four years to battle the us government in order to be able to return to the usa. But the most political thing that he did, was just look into the camera and tell the average person that peace and love are the answer. To be happy, be free, love one another. Guest guest
That doesn't seem to be too much different to what lots of other people do - many well-known people amongst them. The honeymoon in bed - did the reporters report on peace, and how much was spent on war, and how we should behave, or did they just report that John and Yoko were in bed? I will have to stop arguing this point as I didn't realise you were quite so easily impressed.
